Following on from the success of the Flamenco night in October 2010, Meson La Orza is staging a Blues Night this month.

There will be a famous blues group coming down from Granada and the entertainment will start at 21.00 on Friday 26th November 2010 in the bar. Entrance free.

Heavy Rain Causes on Accident N340

Late last night (03/03/2010) a excavator that was assisting with repairs to the crumbling N340 between Melicena and La Rabita fell 369 mtrs into the sea.

Unfortunately the operator of the machinery suffered fatal injuries. The Fire Brigade together with the emergency services battled in terrible conditions to recover the machine with the body.

The Government having been battling to repair the road which is used as the main access points to the new motorway know for around 2 months, but due to the continuing rain it has been extremely difficult.

Sorvilan Town Hall – Budget to Improve the Municipality

The town hall of Sorvilan has just approved plans to improve the some of the villages under their control.

In Melicena they are spending 117,000 for a new building which can be used by the neighbours for various uses.

In Sorvilan itself they will spend a further 74,000 Euros improving the pavements throughout the village.

Various other works are also being undertaken in the village of Alfornon.

In Los Yesos they are also preparing a proposal to add two breakwaters at both ends of the village which would be sanctioned in 2010.
