Los Yesos ( a secretly unexploited gem on the Costa Tropical coastline) now is going to be firmly on the map for education and places of interest to visit. The first phase of the works included the demolition of the old school house (with pupils now relocated to La Mamola) and the erection of a new structure. Following this the completion of the internal layout of the Museum will take place allowing for a new tourist attraction and educational centre for all the types of Flora and Fauna which form part of the local coastline.

With just over 1,000 inhabitants and in the summer many more regular Spanish visitors from Granada, Madrid, Barcelona making it is a great place to come and relax. We are now into the 2nd year with our new beach which is much wider and you are now able to walk for longer stretches with the removal of 3 of the break waters.

This year (2011) for summer there is new life in village with the new younger and refreshing management of Meson La Orza, many new beach bars and the new “chill out zone bar” at the western end of the beach. There is something for everyone here from toddlers to retirement age and this is why it is such a quite and relaxing haven.

From May 2011 Ryan Air will be flying to and from Almeria to Brussels therefore making it easier for travellers in Brussels or bordering on the country to make a holiday in the up and coming region. With the introuduction of this route the initial prices appear low, so make the most of the opportunity to book ahead!

Ryan Air also fly into Germany from Almeria.

The Nursery has 8 places for children 0 to 1 year, 16 for the ages of 1 & 2 and 17 places for 2 to 3 year olds.

The Nursey is now almost finished and upon finalisation will have 3 classrooms all painted in various colours dependant upon age, have one large open plan room, toilets, kitchen, an administration room and an exterior patio.

Transport to the Nursery will also be provided free with a grant from the Town Hall until after the summer of 2011.

Other objective is to provide a summer service which will be fully air conditioned.

The works will commence at the end of February and last for 2 months. Within the budget of 218,000 Euros, 155,000 euros has been provided by the Agricultural Delegation which is a department within the Junta de Andalucia.

The works will cover around 3km of the road from the Barranco de los Olivos until the Aldhayar point. The plan for the improvement will also make the road much wider.

In this area there are 200 agricultors with around 200 hectars of land all of which will benefit from the new tarmac road.
