With just over 1,000 inhabitants and in the summer many more regular Spanish visitors from Granada, Madrid, Barcelona making it is a great place to come and relax. We are now into the 2nd year with our new beach which is much wider and you are now able to walk for longer stretches with the removal of 3 of the break waters.

This year (2011) for summer there is new life in village with the new younger and refreshing management of Meson La Orza, many new beach bars and the new “chill out zone bar” at the western end of the beach. There is something for everyone here from toddlers to retirement age and this is why it is such a quite and relaxing haven.

The works will commence at the end of February and last for 2 months. Within the budget of 218,000 Euros, 155,000 euros has been provided by the Agricultural Delegation which is a department within the Junta de Andalucia.

The works will cover around 3km of the road from the Barranco de los Olivos until the Aldhayar point. The plan for the improvement will also make the road much wider.

In this area there are 200 agricultors with around 200 hectars of land all of which will benefit from the new tarmac road.

The entertainment starts at 21.30 and all are welcome!

From 9pm until just before midnight there will be a FREE BUFFET serving both Spanish and English typical party food. All welcome!.

Initially the food will remain traditional, Roscas, Jamon, Cheese, Paté, Rations of hot & cold local seafood and meat, however in the future their will be English breakfasts and perhaps even Sunday lunches.

The scheme assists individuals dependant upon their own financial circumstances. The banks supporting the new development will offer to prospective buyers up to 100% of the purchase price of the property. However should the bank only offer 80% for example, the Junta will offer a “top up” of between 9,000 – 15,000 and finance on this amount will only be paid on half the monthly payments for up to 3 years.

Thereafter, the amount financed by the Junta can be added to the value of the loan. The Junta are promoting the idea that the loan will be no more than an individual would pay for purchasing a Car!

The scheme covers 4,100 properties that are owned by promoters and 13,200 properties that are now owned by the banks.

Unfortunately the operator of the machinery suffered fatal injuries. The Fire Brigade together with the emergency services battled in terrible conditions to recover the machine with the body.

The Government having been battling to repair the road which is used as the main access points to the new motorway know for around 2 months, but due to the continuing rain it has been extremely difficult.
