Late last night (03/03/2010) a excavator that was assisting with repairs to the crumbling N340 between Melicena and La Rabita fell 369 mtrs into the sea.
Unfortunately the operator of the machinery suffered fatal injuries. The Fire Brigade together with the emergency services battled in terrible conditions to recover the machine with the body.
