With just over 1,000 inhabitants and in the summer many more regular Spanish visitors from Granada, Madrid, Barcelona making it is a great place to come and relax. We are now into the 2nd year with our new beach which is much wider and you are now able to walk for longer stretches with the removal of 3 of the break waters.

This year (2011) for summer there is new life in village with the new younger and refreshing management of Meson La Orza, many new beach bars and the new “chill out zone bar” at the western end of the beach. There is something for everyone here from toddlers to retirement age and this is why it is such a quite and relaxing haven.

The music will start at 9pm and the group is called Funtasy.

There will be a famous blues group coming down from Granada and the entertainment will start at 21.00 on Friday 26th November 2010 in the bar. Entrance free.

Meson La Orza recently under new management is able to offer its clients excellent tapas in its rustic bar and external seating area. Also there is a function room, available for hire, live music, and many other events. In order to look after the children there are also pool tables, a football game and darts to keep all ages amused!

The entertainment starts at 10pm and continues until 12pm, the night is to launch the new Bar/Function Room, based directly on the sea front in La Mamola.

The couple who were retired, Chris and Christine Martin were killed whilst visiting a friends house in Rubite. The accident took place on Monday evening at 18.30 at the couples house on the outskirts of Rubite. The owners of the house survived the freak accident due to the fact that one was outside caring for their animals and the other was in the kitchen area making a drink for their guests.

The Martins suffered fatal injuries as a landslide forced the mountain side onto the roof of the lounge area where the couple were sitting on the sofa relaxing and enjoying wathcing the television.

3 Days of mourning have been annouced in both the Martins home village of La Mamola and Rubite where the accident happened.

The funeral takes place on Thursday at 5pm in La Mamola with the ashes being scattered the following day in the sea.

Large Cracks Have Appeared And Getting Bigger.

Due to possibly the worst rainfall in 60 years, the old N340 coastal road has take a severe battering, and is starting to slip towards the cliff edge overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

This route connects La Mamola to Castell de Ferro, and has many businesses along this stretch, with the road being utilised by around 1500 people per day. A petition has been set up by some of the local land owners afected by the land slip, and is being handed in to the townhall in Rubite to try and get the repairs carried out as soon as possible.

It is estimated that the remedial works necessary to repair the damage, will be in the region of 2,000 Euros.

Also located on the site is the new doctors surgery.
