The beautiful bay is one of the prettiest bays along the south coast of
Spain. Unlike almost anywhere along the coast, development has been restricted in
height and you can still enjoy the contours of the natural setting and the
village of still retains whitewashed buildings climbing the gentle slopes of a
small hill leading up from the beach.
La Herradura together with Almunecar form two of the key tourist areas on
the Costa Tropical. This relatively unknown stretch of Spain's southern coastline
belongs to the Granada province in Andulcia and lies between the Costa del Sol
to the west and the coast of Almeria to the east. Along the 19km of local
coastline visitors can choose from a large variety of beaches and small covers,
ranging from fine sand to shingle.
