6 Million Euro Investment in Motril Region
Motril hs been granted between 6/7 million Euros to complete a Local Investment Plan in 2010. This was announced by the Sub Governer of Granada, Antonio Cruz, on his visit to the refurbishment of the sports complex at Puntalón which represents an investment of half a million euros .
The new plan will subsidize projects related to energy efficiency, new technologies, alternative energies, care units, education and the environment.
Cruz summarised that this plan together with existing projects such as the Urbanisation of Avenue Salobreña (4.4 million), the adaptation of the new headquarters of the Tax Management centre (400,000 Euros), and the rehabilitation of northern stretch of the street of the cemetery (280,000 Euros) brings total spending to 10.3 Million. To date the Ministry of Land Policy has advanced the City of Motril 70% of the value of the projects, while the remaining 30% will be transferred to finish the works. In total, 53 projects have been approved for Motril in the Local Investment Fund and so far the City has received 6.6 million euros, which has helped generate 585 jobs, 80 more than were originally planned.
For his part, Mayor of Motril, Carlos Rojas, said that projects like the sports complex Puntalón “provide stability and security for a better city with a more prosperous future”.
