70 Year Wait for Drinking Water!
It’s about time! The City Council of Orgiva spends 270,000 euros to provide clean and hygienic drinking water from the Sierra de la Contraviesa (that feeds the transfer from the Trevelez River managed by the Commonwealth of Municipios de la Costa) to the viallages Fregenite of Olías.
The Board, the Provincial Council and the Central government involved in this project expect the works to be finished this year (2009). They say that more than 70 years ago, when Olías, (which is more than 20 kilometers from Órgiva) depended on other nearby town, several neighbors asked for water and a mayor promised that the request, as in Fregenite and this would be arranged in a few days. But in reality it took 25,000 days for comments to become true.
