Granada Airport Expansion

Granada-Jaen Airport is set to double its capacity in the next three year. In this expansion plan the size of existing passenger terminal building will be increased, there will be a  new control tower and the parking area will be extended to an additional 505 new places.
All these facilities will be completed by year-end 2012 and will enable the airport to accommodate up to 16 takeoff and landing operations at any time, compared to the current eight. The new terminal will be able to absorb up to 2,000 passengers an hour, between departure and arrival cities or without delays, compared to thousands today.
The director of the airfield granadino-jinenense Welcome Rico, pointed out to the media on the 22/3/2009 there will be a budget of 17 million euros to cover the new project.

in addition there will have to be a new power plant which will cost around 12.2 million euros. “All these works will provide a very significant increase in our capacity,” said Rico, who also stressed that the airport is in a continuous process of improvement.
